The householder noticed a leak in their tank a few weeks after it had been filled. They had the tank replaced but, during the first site investigation, Tergeo also discovered that the oil feed line had failed and a secondary leak had been occurring.
Our Experts Approach
Our team of experts quickly implemented an investigation strategy to confirm the extent to the kerosene contamination, establishing that the total loss exceeded 1,500 litres. Following investigation, contamination was confirmed to have spread across the garden, under the foundations of the house and within drains and ditches. The property’s water supply was also found to have been affected.
Emergency works were carried out to contain the spill and prevent further damage to the property and the environment. These works began with the management of the oil loss within the ditches and water courses. Over 500 litres of kerosene was pumped out of the ditches and the householder’s contaminated septic tank.
